In 1955, Dr. Pierre Forest, then mayor of Maubeuge, created the Garden of the Rose Garden, which would later become the Zoo Maubeuge.Les first residents were a chimpanzee couple, a camel, guinea pigs, peacocks and pigeons canards.La the first giraffe arrived in 1963.
