Location History
Before reaching the coast, the recreational boating is first developed on the Seine. In Les Mureaux, the river forms a 250m large basin, without meander, what encouraged the impressionist painter Gustave Caillebotte, great sailing amateur, to install The Circle of the Sail of Paris, in 1983.
The club, born in 1958, in Argenteuil needs to move in Les Mureaux because a new railway bridge crossing the Seine hindered the passage of sailboats.
International competitions took place in 1900 during the Universal Exhibition, then in 1924, during the Olympic Games in Paris. The Circle of the Sail of Paris still organizes many international regattas and competitions.
