Location History
In 1811, Count Pierre Daru, minister of Napoleon I, bought the Domaine de Bècheville. That same year, Daru received the visit of Henry Beyle, future Stendhal and cousin of the family. It was there that he fell in love with his cousin, Alexandrine. The castle was modified in the second half of the 19th century by the architect Henri Parent, in the Louis XIII style, with stone and brick walls, and slate roof.
The city of Les Mureaux bought in 1953, the monument which now houses the Gabriel-Fauré Conservatory.
