Location History
The upper valley of the Moselle was borrowed by the Roman road between Metz and Basel. Bussang and Saint-Maurice-sur-Moselle were grouped under the name Visentin until 1420, the parish name kept up his score in 1767. In February 1856, the convent of the Sisters of the Holy Spirit Rouceux, came in response to a cholera epidemic, founded a hospice for orphans and the elderly host. The development of the city relied on successively mining modest lead, copper and silver, mineral waters and on the textile industry. Benjamin Pottecher Industrial specializes in the manufacture of cutlery and the local mayor, was among the first in France to enforce the eight-hour day. The tunnel which was Bussang liaison between St. Maurice and Wesserling and contribute to opening of the Vosges valleys was never completed. That of Sainte Marie aux Mines transformed into road tunnel.
