Located in front of the castle, Versailles Palais des Congrès is the first Palais des Congrès built in France and is one of the remarkable heritage sites of Versailles.
Created at the instigation of Versailles mayor André Mignot in 1964, it replaces a ruined Variety Theatre.
Its architect is Pierre-Edouard Lambert, son of Marcel Lambert, the chief architect of the Château de Versailles between 1888 and 1912.
Continuator of Auguste Perret, Lambert remains faithful to an architectural doctrine based on the balance of volumes to design this palace, whose foundation stone was laid in November 1963.
The building was established in 1967 with a certain discretion in an urban and architectural composition inherited from the seventeenth century.
It was renovated identically in 2021 with modern interventions necessary for its operation.
