Location History
Toulouse is the heart of the power of the Counts of Toulouse, the Dukes of Narbonne, who aspired to a royal crown with Raymond IV, who was one of the most important European powers in the twelfth century. The castle Narbonne newly discovered is the center from which emanated the authority of the counts. It was most likely built on the site of the Gallo-Roman door opened in the wall of Tolosa in the first centuries of our era, main door to the city from Narbonne Gaul. The Tribunal de Grande Instance in contemporary architecture includes the remains discovered at the construction site.
