The penitentiary of the city of Saint Laurent du Maroni is a place full of history and emotion also called the Transportation camp. It is a penitentiary established in French Guiana, which no longer exists today but is partially restored.

The Transportation Camp is a historical monument of Guyana by order of 14 February 1995. The transportation camp is the place where the convicts were deported between 1852 and 1953.
