Location History
From the Middle-Ages to nowadays, the castle has been transformed and restored many times. It has also been used for numerous functions. Initially, it was a royal palace but it also once was a prison for example. Today it houses the Museum of National archeology which was created in the XIXth century.
The park was made at two different times. First, André Le Nôtre (famous for designing Versailles gardens) realized a regular park in 1663 and a great deck. An irregular garden was created in 1845.
