Location History
Ormesson estate is a sixteenth century seigneurial residence. In the seventeenth century, the Le Fèvre d'Ormesson family acquires the estate and entertains counting writers as Madame de Sévigné, Jean Racine, Nicolas Boileau, Jacques-Bénigne Bossuet, Jean de la Fontaine. André Le Nôtre designs the parc at that time. In the XVIIIth century, Henri d'Ormesson decides on the extension of the principal building and modifies thereupon the facade overlooking the park. He preserves the facade overlooking the courtyard and the pavilions. The architect Antoine Matthieu Le Carpentier modifies thereafter the roof of the corner turrets and the frame of the central door. The castle is from now on uninhabitated and private.
