General presentation
Inaugurated in 1787, the Opera of Marseille is the second large theater built in the provinces after Bordeaux.
The fire of November 13, 1919 spared only the exterior structures : the walls, the colonnade and the peristyle.
Everything else is the work of a collective of architects and artists who created for its reconstruction, between 1919 and 1924, the most important hall of typically "art-deco" architecture in France.
Classified as Historical Monuments.
