Location History
Overlooking the ruins of the famous abbey of Port-Royal des Champs in the Chevreuse Valley, the museum is housed in the building that the Solitaires (hermits) had built in 1651-1652 for pupils in the Petites Ecoles. Dedicated to the history of Jansenism, of which the abbey was an important centre, it has a large number of engravings and old books and several paintings by Philippe de Champaigne and his workshop.
