Location History
Located in the heart of a pine forest, mines Bruoux are considered the "temple of ocher". They are the most important galleries of Europe and ocher evidence of the massive exploitation of this material in the Apt. The mines are an old quarry Bruoux ocher operated underground from 1880 to 1950. For 70 years, miners dug with pick over 40 km of tunnels to extract the ore ochreous. Converted into mushroom in the 60s, Bruoux mines located in the village of Gargas were refurbished in tour in 2009. The company Arcano, manager of the mine site Bruoux offers a guided tour of this place.
