Location History
The Grosbois estate has been conceived as a hunting lodge. Its name comes from the vast stretch of woods abundant in games that surrounds it. The half-moon central pavilion corresponds to the original building from the end of the 16th century. Two wings set at right angles and two lateral pavilions are in accordance with the central building style but have been builded by the Duke of Angouleme in the 17th century. Marshal Berthier acquires the castle in the 18th century and extends it. Grosbois estate is from now on an international centre for the training of horses and to this end counting maintenance, restoration and renovation works have been made. In addition to the horse-trainnig center, Grosbois estate is also a training school, a research center and a museum.
