Location History
Located in the Faubourg Saint-Germain, Hotel de Galliffet was built by the architect Etienne-François Legrand between 1776 and 1792.

This hotel received many famous people such as the father of Eugene Delacroix, Talleyrand, Chateaubriand, Napoleon, or Madame de Staël.

Acquired by the Italian State in 1909, it was at first the seat of the Embassy and the Consulate General of Italy, and finally in 1962, the Italian Cultural Institute.
Between 1992 and 1993, a restoration takes place to give to the hotel particulier a new splendor.

Hotel de Galliffet has also a library of 50,000 volumes.
