Location History
The story of Vergez Blanchard began in 1823 with Louis René Blanchard, a cutler, who opened his first workshop in Paris and developed a range of leatherworking tools, guided by the pursuit of quality and excellence. Later, Adrien Soubeyran moved the company out of Paris to take advantage of more spacious premises, setting up shop in a former copper foundry. The new location also took advantage of water power from the Andelle River and rail access to the capital. In 1910, Louis Hippolyte Simonin, nicknamed “Blanchard”, bought out the Vergez company and gave birth to the Vergez Blanchard brand, recognized today by craftsmen and artisans for its know-how and the quality of its tools.
