Location History
Periods of construction: 1350 - 1450
The barony originates from Foulques d'Aunou, companion of William the Conqueror.
Several architectural elements are contemporary with the Hundred Years War: buttresses, mullioned windows, chimneys, round corner tower, door frames. Balls of stone discovered during excavations testify to the English occupation.
Property of Jacques Le Gris, protagonist of the last legal duel in the history of France in 1386, recently recounted in a film by Ridley Scott (The Last Duel).
At the end of the 16th century, the estate was administered by François d'O, superintendent of finances for Henri III and Henri IV. After its sale as National Property, several ancillary buildings were destroyed.
A major restoration has been underway since 1993
