Location History
In 2000, the city of Vincennes decided to implement a major project. The public arts center called "Coeur de ville", offers "a new public space, adapted to cultural and artistic life".
The architect chosen to carry out this project was Henri Gaudin, who was responsible for the Charléty stadium and the renovation of the Guimet Museum. The heart of the city is "a veritable City of Arts" with a large media library (2,500 m2), a conservatory of music, dance and drama (2,000 m2) and an auditorium (300 seats); it is also a major urban landmark, which brings together other public facilities around an interior agora: administrative services, reception rooms, parking. The center counts 800 admissions per day, on average, to the media library alone (more than 1,000 on Saturdays), 900 students registered at the conservatory; more than 100 performances a year at the auditorium.
