Location History
With the arrival of the railway, developers, including the Compagnie des Chemins de Fer de l'Est, offered building plots and lauded the charms of the suburbs.
In what is now the Ile de Beauté district, villas in various styles (including Anglo-Norman chalets) were built by the river from 1860 onwards as holiday resorts.
It was also here that the Maison Convert was built, one of the most famous guinguettes (open-air dance hall) or riverside restaurants of the time.
