The City of Cergy, located in the Oise loop of the French Vexin, is the new city of the Cergy-Pontoise agglomeration, which includes 13 neighboring municipalities.
The city is composed of 8 different districts, from the historic village to the dense urban areas.
Location History
The result of the encounter between a centuries-old rural village and the adventure of the new cities, Cergy is a city that has quadrupled its population in thirty years and has established itself as a major strategic center.
At the beginning of the 20th century, Cergy was a small rural and agricultural village located on the banks of the Oise River with less than 1,000 inhabitants.
In 1969, the Cergy-Pontoise agglomeration was created in accordance with Paul Delouvrier's urban planning and development plan for new towns. The city of Cergy became the urban core by developing various neighborhoods on former rural areas, hosting a multitude of activities and housing.
