General presentation

Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges is a 20th-century Catholic church in Saint-Lary-Soulan, in the Hautes-Pyrénées department of France.
It is dedicated to Saint Bertrand de Comminges in memory of the former diocese to which the Aure valley belonged.

The current church was built between 1950 and 1952 to plans by Tarbais architect Jean Martin, using modern materials (reinforced concrete, cement). It was consecrated on October 16, 1952.
Its construction is orientated, meaning that the choir faces east, and ends in a flat chevet.
The facade is pierced with openings and features a high bell-wall. The vaulted nave is lined with side aisles.
The choir wall is adorned with a painting by Francoise Pawlak in 1985. A large stained glass window depicting the Burning Bush, created in 1999 by Henri Guérin, adorns the main entrance.
