Location History
Created in 1896 by Jean-Marie Soubirous (nephew of Saint Bernadette) and his wife Benoîte Toulet, the Grand Hôtel Moderne welcomed aristocrats and visiting dignitaries in a refined and pleasant setting in the very heart of Lourdes.
Desiring to build "the most beautiful hotel in the city", Louis Majorelle (1859-1926), one of the greatest artists of Art Nouveau, was entrusted with the design of the interior of the establishment.

The woodwork and parquet floors of Restaurant Le Majorelle create a warm and intimate atmosphere.

Pyrenean marble - a noble material
Impressive marble columns stand out in the restaurant, providing a striking contrast to the woodwork. This marble from local Pyrenean quarries was also used to design the Salon d'Hercule

high ceilings bathe the large salons in natural light.
