In 1935, the Parisian architect Henri Ploquin proposes the construction of an Olympic stadium including a track and a sports hall. For budgetary reasons only the stadium is finally realized. The year 1970 marked the first changes the Velodrome with the replacement of old projectors Ganay stands and Jean Bouin by four towers 60 meters high for nighttime events. France is organizing the 1998 World Cup, a tender was launched in March 1995 for a thorough renovation of the Velodrome stadium that has seen its capacity reach 60 000 seats. June 21, 2010, Hall unveils project selected for the renovation of the Velodrome stadium, in particular to the home of Euro 2016.
